To demonstrate systematic understanding of key aspects of anthropology via a 10,000 word dissertation
To show detailed knowledge of a particular body of ethnographic work, and demonstrate how this relates to the student's own research
To demonstrate the ability to build and sustain an argument over 10,000 words
To show the ability to deploy anthropological methods in the collection and analysis of data
To show the ability to link theory with ethnography
To demonstrate the ability to write clearly and fluently
