Guidance for all students

My ßÏßÏÊÓÆµ

is the online support portal for current students. Students can get advice about anything from careers to accommodation to welfare support – all available in one easy to use place.

Students also:

  • have access to resources 24/7
  • are able to access support services and book onto events
  • make an enquiry via the portal and be connected with the relevant staff member.

Health and Wellbeing Centre

The Health and Wellbeing Centre is home to the and the and can be found opposite the Student Centre. You can self-refer for therapy and find out more online. The Student Wellbeing Canvas site also has details of where to find the weekly wellbeing stall.

The Student Centre offers support on a range of welfare issues. We can help with:

  • concerns affecting study progress
  • health and wellbeing issues
  • money matters
  • improving your academic performance.

Specialist support

We offer a range of tailored support for all students.

Residential Life team

If you live in University-managed accommodation you can also speak to our Residential Life team. They offer welfare support and run a drop-in service on campus during the week.

Security is available 24/7 including public holidays via phone at 01273 678234, or via e-mail at security@sussex.ac.uk.

Disability support

You can also get advice if you have a disability, long term physical or mental health condition, autism spectrum condition, or specific learning difference through our specialist support services.

Our network of expert staff includes specialist advisors, support workers, mental health mentors, note-takers and study skills tutors.

Support is available to applicants, who may discuss their adjustments prior to starting, and to all current students with additional needs.

Students with families

We have a range of facilities for students who come to study at ßÏßÏÊÓÆµ while caring for children or other dependants.

On-campus nursery

We have a nursery and pre-school on campus. Places can fill up quickly so it’s best to apply as early as possible.

At ßÏßÏÊÓÆµ, you’ll join an international community of students and staff from more than 140 countries. Our support begins before you start at ßÏßÏÊÓÆµ – we can help you apply for a visa and find out what to expect when you arrive.

Throughout your studies, you’ll be invited to activities and events to help you make new friends and settle into life in the UK. We also provide careers support, including advice on visas and how to get a job in the UK.

Careers support

To ensure you get the best possible start to life after University, we offer specialist careers guidance, support to start a business, and opportunities to engage with employers.

You will also have access to graduate, placement, internship and part-time job vacancies, as well as a menu of work experience exclusively for ßÏßÏÊÓÆµ students.

English language skills

Once you’re here, our English Language for Academic Study service offers free workshops, one-to-one tutorials and writing sessions. Our aim is to help you develop your English and adapt to UK academic study.

Faith and spirituality

The Meeting House is the base for our on-campus chaplaincy, with services spanning a range of faiths and deonominations. The campus also has a Muslim Student Centre and prayer facility.

We want to ensure that every student, including those who identify as belonging to the following communities (LGBTQ+, trans and non-binary, care-experienced and estranged, BAME, disabled, parents carers and mature students), are – so you get the most out of your time with us.
