Green Healthcare Consultancy (GHC)
We support the design, development and adoption of sustainable, reusable MedTech devices and reprocessing services.
About us
The Green Healthcare Consultancy (GHC) is a service which aims to provide a comprehensive consultancy service to industry and the NHS to support the design, development and ultimately the adoption and integration of sustainable, reusable MedTech devices and reprocessing services. The core services include carbon footprint analysis and independent validation, expert clinical opinion, access to technical infrastructure for real-world testing, support on regulatory compliance, testing and user engagement, as well as hosting trials and pilots, with user and patient feedback.
Our vision is to become a trusted one-stop shop, committed to transforming healthcare sustainability, which reduces the problem of slow adoption of reusable products and medical devices by supporting innovative companies to create market-ready products and processes with nationally and globally recognised expertise, credibility, and connections. Our customers will be innovative, mission-driven companies that are developing new, reusable healthcare products and medical devices. Our solution is better than existing service providers because it provides value for money while acting as a centralised resource offering guidance, validation, clinical access, regulatory expertise, and a networked community, all through one access point.
Our offer
We are building capacity to provide the following services to medical device and healthcare companies looking to create sustainable, reusable products and services for use within the NHS:
- Supporting companies to develop new, reusable healthcare products and medical devices, and to understand and navigate the complex regulatory and clinical landscape by providing access to users for design inputs, independent academic validation, connecting them with clinical and user testing opportunities and trials, and guiding them through each step.
- Supporting companies to facilitate the transition of existing healthcare products and medical devices from single-use to reusable through the development of regulatory roadmaps, carbon footprinting, benefit mapping and validation, as well as access to clinical settings to trial and refine products.
- Working with innovators looking to design new processes to support healthcare product reuse, who are required to meet stringent standards and validation by providing expert guidance on understanding and meeting those standards, with validation and facilitating co-design connections with product developers to help translate this research into practice.
Our testimonies
- UV Smart LCA
“At UV Smart, we are thrilled with the results of the comprehensive Lifecycle Assessment (LCA) conducted by Professor Yan Wang and her team at the University of Brighton. Their rigorous evaluation confirms that the UV Smart D60 is a transformative solution for sustainable healthcare. The report highlights that decontaminating a reusable nasoendoscope with our UV technology generates only 7% of the carbon footprint compared to using a single-use device.
Furthermore, the study shows that a reusable device reaches its environmental "breakeven point" in just 15 cycles when using the D60, eventually saving thousands of kg of CO2 over its lifespan. It has been a pleasure working with such a professional and insightful team. This study provides the high-quality, independent validation we need to show healthcare providers that they can achieve superior safety and efficiency without compromising their commitment to the planet.”Daan Hoek
