Summary
I am am Emeritus Professor of Educational and Social Disadvantage at the Sussex. My research interests focus on the relationship between educational and social (dis)advantage. ÌýSpecific areas of interest include: Ìýschool exclusion as a disciplinary process; access to higher education; multiagency working, inclusing in relation to Virtual Schools in England; approaches to disadvantage at policy level in England, including in relation to the Pupil Premium and child and family poverty. Ìý
In the past I have worked in secondary schools, adult education and a pupil referral unit and as a family support worker for a school inclusion project.

Post: I am a Senior Lecturer in Education at the Sussex. I am also Director of the Centre for Teaching and Learning Research (CTLR) and Departmental Research Lead.
